Each of the three artists was already successful in their own right, with multiple hit singles and albums either as a lead artist, featured artist, producer, or as part of a group (Major Lazer, in Diplo's case). Sia had worked separately with each of the two others (with Labrinth on "To Be Human" and with Diplo on "Elastic Heart"), but they had never worked as a trio until Sia, in the midst of a new collaboration with Labrinth, gave Diplo a call and asked him to join them in the studio. The first fruit of their collaboration was the single "Genius." Powered by thumping drums and insistent string stabs and accompanied by a psychedelic, '60s-style animated video, the song became an instant streaming hit. They swiftly followed up with a second single, "Audio," just a week later, and disclosed that they were working on an album. Three further singles, "Thunderclouds," "Mountains," and "No New Friends," followed, before the trio's debut album, Labrinth, Sia Diplo Present LSD, was released in April 2019. In addition to the previously released singles, the set also included a remix of "Genius" with Lil Wayne. ~ John D. Buchanan, Rovi
