California-based producer Taso (Anastasios Ioannis Skalkos III) has recorded tracks in numerous styles, including trap, dubstep, and drum'n'bass, but he's received the most attention for his association with juke/footwork collective Teklife, which he joined in 2012. His footwork tracks often cross-pollinate between the other styles he produces, and while they're frequently hedonistic and drug-fueled, they're just as often smooth, relaxed, and reflective. He has collaborated extensively with other Teklife members such as DJ Spinn, DJ Earl, and the late DJ Rashad, as well as the dubstep group Truth. After releasing the dubstep album Galactic Booty Call in 2012 and trap-centric Off Top and LB4$ in 2013, he focused on footwork for his self-released Teklife Till tha Next Life albums; Vol. 1 appeared in 2014, and Vol. 2 arrived a year later. He collaborated with Jessy Lanza and DJ Spinn on the 2015 single "You Never Show Your Love." In 2016, he released a series of eight Cold Heat EPs, each arriving monthly between January and August.
