Biography
This bespectacled, dynamic lead tenor worked with various groups in Southern California before gaining a wider audience when he joined the Spirit of Memphis in 1950. Listed variously during his career as Willmer, Wilmer, Wilbur, and Willie Little Ax Broadnax, the "ringing tenor" led the Southern Gospel Singers, the Golden Echoes, and later the Spirit of Memphis Quartet during the '50s. ~ Bil Carpenter and Kip Lornell, Rovi
