Biography
Adrian Younge, a synthesist of vintage and progressive soul, hip-hop, and film music, produced and played everything on a small-run EP he released in 2000. Credited to Venice Dawn, the five-song set led to Younge providing the music for the Blaxploitation-styled film Black Dynamite, which truly set the multi-instrumentalist and producer's career in motion. The Venice Dawn name was fully reactivated for Something About April (2011) and Something About April II (2016), two dark and cinematic affairs. Over the years, presented as a band, Venice Dawn has featured Younge beside fellow instrumentalists Alfredo Fratti, C.E. Garcia, and Jack Waterson, along with vocalists Loren Oden and Saudia Yasmein, and several guest artists. Various members contributed to some of Younge's album-length collaborations with the likes of the Delfonics and Ghostface Killah. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
