Biography
Omar Cavalheiro played in the Festival Internacional de Varadero (Cuba/1981) with Chico Buarque, MPB-4, Nara Leão, and others. He participated in the Free Jazz Festival (1988) with the Orquestra de Música Brasileira. Cavalheiro also was a member of the Orquestra de Cordas Brasileiras, which won the Sharp prize as best record (1991 and 1992) and best instrumental group (1991). He has worked for artists like Elza Soares, MPB-4, Francis Hime, Zé Renato, and Leila Pinheiro. He has participated on several albums, including Retratos (Radamés Gnattali), Noites Cariocas (Live in the Municipal Theater, Rio), Álbum Musical (Francis Hime), Sílvio Caldas 90 Anos (Zé Renato and orchestra), Piazzolando Ao Vivo (Daniel Binelli), and Bach in Brazil (Camerata Brasil), the latter appointed best album in the month of July 2000 by Classic CD (Londres). He was also a member of the Camerata Brasil and of the Novo Quinteto, an instrumental group formed with former members of the Quinteto Radamés. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
