Biography
Sebastian was an organist and composer who secured positions at Seville Cathedral, Burgo de Osma, and the royal chapel in Madrid; he then moved to Bayonne, France during the war of Spanish succession. His fame as a composer is noted, not only for innovative techiniques, but also for the attacks his music received after his death for a lack of conventionality; Duron's fame had also spread through references to him as far away as Peru. Compositional scores demanded much of string players and Duron made the attempt to have every musical note convey the words of the text. The body of his literature included zarzuelas, operas, sacred works, songs and villancicos. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
