Biography
Muffat was an organist and court musician in Vienna, Prague and Salzburg before visiting Italy in the 1680's. There, he studied in Rome with Pasquini, heard Corelli's concerti grossi and heard his own compositions played at Corelli's home.In 1682 he returned to Salzburg but became disenchanted with the conditions there and took a position as Kapellmeister at the court of the Bishop of Passau. He was a versitile musician and played a role in introducing French and Italian styles to the German music scene. ~ Lynn Vought, Rovi
