Günter Bialas
July 19, 1907 - January 1, 1995 (age 87)
Biography
Bialas studied at the Breslau University and at the Berlin Academy of Church and School Music. He served as professor at the North-West German Academy of Music in Detmold and has earned many prizes, including the Music Prize of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts (1967). His compositions show his tendency toward conservatism as well as a desire for change and growth. His early work contains folksong elements and he later moved on to experiment with serial textures and exotic music such as African polyphony and heterophony. ~ Lynn Vought, Rovi
