Not very important as a player, Valzinho was a great composer, having left classics like Óculos Escuros (with Orestes Barbosa, 1955; recorded by Zezé Gonzaga and by Paulinho da Viola, 1971), Doce Veneno (with Carlos Lentine and Esperidião Machado Goulart, 1945; recorded by Marion, Djalma Ferreira Group, Jamelão, Gaúcho, Britinho, Paulinho da Viola, and Elizeth Cardoso), Não Sei Por Que (with Luperce Miranda, 1944; recorded by Gilberto Alves), Tormento (1946, recorded by Orlando Silva), and Súplica (with Pernambuco, 1947). Also an engraver and sculptor, he was honored in 1940 and 1950 at the Salão Nacional de Belas-Artes.

The brother of singer/composer/violonista Newton Teixeira, Valzinho was hired in 1933 by Rádio Guanabara to play cavaquinho in the group of violonista Pereira Filho, together with Luís Bittencourt (violão), Darci (pandeiro), and Dante Santoro (flute). In 1934, he joined Pixinguinha's group together with master and violonista Valdemar, João da Baiana (pandeiro and vocals), and Joca (pandeiro). From 1936 on, joining the Regional de Luperce Miranda, he worked for Rádio Mayrink Veiga until 1939, when he joined the Dante Santoro Regional, also hired by Rádio Nacional. He continued working in the same group for 30 years, even after the disturbing murder of their leader, who was dearly regarded in choro circles.
