Biography
A bottom-heavy Italian doom duo, 1782 emerged in 2018 with a fuzzed-out psychedelic sound that looked to genre harbingers like Black Sabbath and Witchfinder General for inspiration. Comprised of Marco Nieddu (guitar, bass, vocals) and Gabriele Fancellu (drums, backing vocals), the band released the single "She Was a Witch" in early 2019 via Electric Valley Records. The song -- and band name -- was inspired by Anna Göldi, a Swiss woman who was sentenced to death by decapitation in 1782, the last person to be executed in Europe for witchcraft. Later that year the duo headed into the studio to record their full-length debut. The resulting 1782 was released via Heavy Psych Sounds in August 2019. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
