Biography
Stewart Ashby, aka Big Scoob, spent his late adolescence and part of his early adulthood involved with gangs in his native Kansas City, Missouri. Rap music eventually provided a path out of the lifestyle. Along with fellow MC Tech N9ne, he formed the 57th Street Rogue Dog Villains, a group that released a handful of albums during the late '90s and early 2000s. Frustrated with the industry, Scoob left music and focused on raising his daughters, but Tech N9ne convinced him to return after a few years of dormancy. Signed to Tech N9ne's Strange Music label, Scoob issued the solo albums Monsterifik (2009) and Damn Fool (2011), both of which were filled out with guest appearances from the extended Strange family. The No Filter EP was also released in 2011. Big Scoob dropped a pair of mixtapes, Dope Talk, Vol. 1 and Dope Talk, Vol. 2, in mid-2012. While Scoob made guest appearances on several Tech N9ne and Strange Music releases, it wasn't until November 2016 that he released his third album of his own material, H.O.G. Another full-length, Duality, arrived in 2018 and hit number 12 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
