Biography
Married couple Brian and Jenn Johnson were the founders of Bethel Music, a Christian worship group that went from humble beginnings in 2001 to the top tier of the world's religious music brands. An offshoot of the charismatic Bethel Church in Redding, California, where the Johnsons led the worship (and Brian's father Bill was the pastor), it grew, like the British Soul Survivor and Australian Hillsong franchises, into a fully-fledged record label, publishing company, and artist collective responsible for numerous albums and live events all over the world. As a duo, the couple recorded the label's first two releases, the live worship albums Undone (2001) and We Believe (2006), after which their primary focus switched to the Bethel Music group and the label's other artists, as well as raising their three children. Committed, charismatic, and likable, the couple built a high-profile international career while remaining grounded and strong in their faith. In 2017 they released their first duo album in over a decade, After All These Years. With a lush, epic, electronic-tinged pop production and featuring an 80-piece orchestra, it marked a departure from their earlier organic style, while retaining the same deeply devotional content. ~ John D.
