Biography
A talented singer/songwriter with a big expressive voice and a flowing mane of hair, Sawyer Fredericks had been honing his craft well before he won the 2015 season of The Voice. Inspired by artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ray LaMontagne, Johnny Cash, Simon Garfunkel, and Keith Urban, Fredericks is from the small town of Fultonville in upstate New York, where he lives with his parents on the family farm. He started playing guitar at the age of ten and recorded his first six-song demo of original songs just two years later. Fredericks issued his first full-length outing, Out My Window, via CD Baby in 2013. Two years later, at the age of 15, he tried out for season eight of NBC's popular singing competition The Voice and landed a spot on Pharrell Williams' team. An immediate fan favorite, Fredericks ultimately finished in first place. Following his win, he signed with Republic Records and released a self-titled EP that included the single "Take It All." In 2016, Fredericks returned with his major-label debut album, A Good Storm, featuring the single "4 Pockets." He followed it in 2018 with Hide Your Ghost. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
