Biography
The daughter of an amateur singer, Flor Silvestre (born Guillermina Jiménez) was captivated by popular music at a very young age. In Mexico City she had her first opportunity to perform live and adopted the nickname of Flor Silvestre soon after. Winning first place in a new talent contest gave her the chance to start touring Mexico and Central and South America. While promoting her debut record, Silvestre began a successful acting career and married popular Latin artist Antonio Aguilar. Together they became a local legend and parents of two celebrities in the Mexican scene: Antonio Aguilar, Jr. and José Antonio Aguilar, aka Pepe Aguilar. After a successful career in which she distinguished herself in recording, film, television, and the stage, Flor Silvestre died on November 25, 2020 at the age of 90. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
