Biography
French harpsichordist and fortepianist Justin Taylor has risen quickly to the top of his field, largely on the strength of his solo recordings for the Alpha Classics label. Taylor began studying harpsichord in 2002 at age ten, and he attended the Paris Conservatoire from 2011 to 2015, pursuing studies in harpsichord, piano, and music analysis. Upon graduation, he competed at the prestigious International Competition Musica Antiqua in Bruges, where he won First Prize, the Audience Prize, and two other awards. Later in 2015, he formed his own chamber ensemble, Le Consort, a period-instruments group that includes violinists Théotime Langlois de Swarte and Sophie de Bardonnèche, and Louise Pierrard on viola da gamba. In 2016, Taylor released La Famille Forqueray: Portrait(s), his debut album on Alpha, and he was nominated in 2017 for the Victoires de Musique Award as best new instrumental soloist. Also in 2017, he received the Best New Artist of the Year from the Professional Critics Association of France, and recorded Continuum: Scarlatti, Ligeti, his second album for Alpha. ~ Blair Sanderson, Rovi
