Jung An Tagen
from Vienna, Austria
Biography
Austrian musician and visual artist Stefan Juster, an associate of the mysterious Virtual Institute Vienna, produces highly complex, stimulating electronic pieces as Jung An Tagen. His music typically consists of rapidly twisting, neon-like textures, sometimes joined by hypnotic kick drums, as on 2018's Agent Im Objekt. Despite the synaesthetic nature of his work, and his background as a visual designer, Juster prefers to perform in pitch-black darkness.
Stefan Juster has been actively producing music under many monikers since the 2000s. He has released noise and drone recordings on labels like Blackest Rainbow and Ikuisuus, in addition to making tape-warped psychedelia and cosmic disco as Cruise Family on Not Not Fun and his own SF Broadcasts tape label. He also used the name Alex Strelka for his more straightforward techno explorations. Jung An Tagen made its debut with the Vielheiten cassette in early 2014. This was followed by the hypnotic abstractions of 2015's Äussere, issued by Orange Milk. The project moved to Editions Mego with the release of Das Fest Der Reichen in 2016, followed by the more beat-driven Agent Im Objekt in 2018. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
