Biography
Led by John Hughes III, son of the influential filmmaker, Chicago-based Bill Ding fused electronic and industrial sounds with vibraphones, cellos, violins, and horns in the late '90s. Joined by multi-instrumentalists Dan Snazelle and Rich Embach, Hughes and Bill Ding recorded progressive, nonlinear music. Their 1996 debut album, And the Sound of Adventure, was followed by Trust in God But Tie Up Your Camel, which included the minor hits Goddam Your Thing and Waterway Systems, the following year. An EP followed late in 1997 (The Horrendously Named EP), but Bill Ding disbanded soon after. Hughes went on to form Slicker, and also recorded the soundtrack for the 2000 film #Scarlet Diva. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
