Salvia Plath
Biography
Baltimore native Michael Collins got his start making music under the name Run DMT in the late 2000s. After making two albums (2010's Banana Split and 2012's Dreams) made up of drifting, atmospheric sonic collages that hover somewhere between psychedelia, J Dilla-style hip-hop, and Beach Boys-influenced pop, Collins was forced to change the name of his project thanks to pressure from an EDM group that shared the Run DMT name (and presumably had better lawyers). He resurfaced under the name Salvia Plath and altered the sound a bit, heading for more traditional pastures. While still remaining true to the neo-psychedelic nature of Run DMT, some Neil Young and film music influences crept into his first record, The Bardo Story, which was released in the summer of 2013 by Weird World Records. ~ Tim Sendra, Rovi
