Biography
A composer who spent some time in London; there he played the flute and oboe for the Italian opera. Barsanti also went to Scotland and lived in Edinburgh where he spent eight years. The compositions of Barsanti were composed primarily in Scotland with a definitive Italian style. Concerto grossi and overtures were his speciality but he also arranged 30 Scotish songs with continuo. His instrumental works were superb especially for the recorder and music employing the timpani. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
