Biography
Mexican alternative dance threesome Titán were formed in the early '90s by ex-Melamina Ponderosa guitarist Julian Lede, keyboardist Emilio Acevedo, and bassist Andrés Sánchez, later replaced by ex-Fobia drummer/bassist Jay de la Cueva. The group recorded its debut LP, Terrordisco, in 1995. After signing up to Tombola! in 1999, Titán released an EP featuring "C'mon Feel the Noise," soon debuting on MTV Latino. Their follow-up album, Elevator, produced by Paco Huidobro, Craig Burrell, Ross Harris, and Michael Franti, featured the hit single "1,2,3,4." With their increased exposure, Titán spent much of the coming year touring the U.S. and Europe. A self-titled, self-released LP, Titán, arrived in 2005, after which the group essentially went on hiatus. Over a decade later, Titán paired up with British producer Nick Launey (Nick Cave the Bad Seeds, Arcade Fire) to produce their long-awaited fourth album, Dama. Released in 2016, the album featured collaborations with several different vocalists, including Gary Numan and Siobhan Fahey. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
