Biography
A multifaceted British singer/songwriter with a penchant for collaborations and pairing traditional English folk with rootsy Americana, Chris While was born in 1956 in the seaport town of Barrow-in-Furness. The Lancashire native spent her formative years honing her guitar and singing chops at local folk clubs, eventually leaving her hometown to tour with her then husband, pianist/songwriter Joe While. The pair divorced in 1991 and While launched a solo career with her debut album Still on Fire. By Request arrived the following year, and in 1993 she joined and became an integral part of the Albion Band, with whom she would play, tour, and record with until 1997. It was around that time that she began a long musical relationship with fellow ex-Albion Band member Julie Matthews, releasing a string of albums that began with Piecework in 1998. The duo's 2010s offering, Who We Are, was issued in 2014 via FatCat Records. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
