Big John Dickerson
Biography
Vocalist Big John Dickerson is no stranger to blues and soul music. Dickerson's current backing band, Blue Chamber, have long been the house band at Famous Dave's BBQ and Blues in uptown Minneapolis.
The 60-something Dickerson has been singing for decades; he began his career in Detroit as a session drummer for Motown Records, and worked with classic RB singers Jerry Butler and Bettye Swann on their respective tours in the 1960s. His session credits include drumming for the Temptations, Five Sharps, Marvin Gaye, James Brown and Bobby Blue Bland, among others.
Dickerson recorded two independently released albums with the regional band Down Right Tight prior to his 1997 debut for Cannonball. ~ Richard Skelly, Rovi
