Biography
Copenhagen, Denmark's Jakob Skott debuted his heavily processed dream pop productions as Syntaks in 2001, when the MP3 label DataMusik issued a three-track recording. The following year, Skott and frequent collaborators Jonas Munk (aka Manual) and Jess Kahr released the post-rock/IDM hybrid Orion, as Limp, on the Morr Music label. After 2004's Golden Sun, credited to Manual and Syntaks, Skott concentrated on his solo material, releasing Awakes and the limited-edition Below the Meridian -- both on the Scottish Benbecula label -- in 2006. The former incorporated vocals from Anna Cecilia, who transformed Syntaks into a full-fledged duo. Ylajali, their first proper album as a duo, was released on Ghostly International in 2009. Additionally, Skott recorded with Munk and Kahr as Causa Sui. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
