Biography
The Rumors made one well-regarded garage single, Hold Me Now, for the small Gemcor label in mid-1965. Of the many obscure Louie Louie ripoffs that have been recorded over the years, Hold Me Now is one of the best of them, with a raunchy vocal and blistering guitar break. A slower and less distinctive pop-rock song, Without Her, appeared on the flipside. Hold Me Now had little impact, although it was used as part of a McDonald's commercial. Hold Me Now was first reissued on the compilation Highs in the Mid-Sixties Vol. 1, and then on the Nuggets box set. Its far less memorable B-side came out on Rhino's Nuggets Volume Four: Pop Part Two compilation LP in 1984. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi
