Biography
John Stax was the original bassist in the Pretty Things, playing on their first two albums and 1964-1966 singles. He had started playing with Pretty Things lead singer Phil May and lead guitarist Dick Taylor in 1963, when he sat in on classes at Sidcup Art College, which both May and Taylor attended. He only played on a couple of tracks on their third album, Emotions (1967), before he was replaced by Wally Waller. Thereafter, Stax left the music business, emigrating to Australia. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi
