Jacques Boyvin
January 1, 1653 - June 30, 1706 (age 53)
Biography
A French composer and organist who was enabled to oversee the building of the organ at Notre Dame, Rouen. The organ was rebuilt by Robert Clicquot with more than 40 ranks, four manuels and manuel to peddle connections. Boyvin composed books of music containing eight suites to exploit the virtues of the organ. The structures of his music included fugues, "plein jeu", duos, trios, and dialogues. Jacques Boyvin also wrote a book which was a detailed reference for managing the stops on the organ ("Traite abrege de l'accompagnement"). ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
