Philip Antony Corri
January 1, 1784 - February 10, 1832 (age 48)
Biography
The Corri's were a musical family of Italian origin with members in Ireland, the USA, and primarily Britain. Philip helped to sell the Philharmonic Society of London as a singer. He was also a composer and teacher. A short time after the establishment of the PSL, Corri migrated to the United States and lived in Baltimore. In 1822 his opera "The Enterprise" was produced and is an exemplification of American opera from this time period (which was quite the rare occasion). Besides opera, Corri also composed piano music, songs and a sonata. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
