In 1966, bassist Eric Haydock was fired from the Hollies, with whom he had played since 1962. He put together a short-lived band of his own, Haydock's Rockhouse, who specialized in more of an R&B sound than the Hollies had been generating of late. Peter Ainsworth handled the vocals, with Ian Brooks on trumpet, Barry Worthington on sax, Tony Danforth at the organ and singing, Haydock on bass, and Hector Smith on drums. They were signed to EMI's Columbia label and made their debut with a cover of the Sam Cooke song Cupid, which failed to chart. In 1967, they issued one more single, Lovin' You, which also disappeared without a trace.
