Declan Masterson
from Cabra, Dublin, Ireland
Biography
The uilleann pipes and whistle playing of Dublin-born multi-instrumentalist Declan Masterson propelled the hard-driving sounds of Celtic rock group Moving Hearts in the mid-'80s, and the more-traditional Irish band, Patrick Street, in the early '90s. On his own, Masterson has recorded three albums showcasing his virtuosic instrumental skills -- Drifting Through the Hazel Woods, End of the Harvest, and Fairwater. In addition, Masterson has performed with Christy Moore, Planxty, John Denver, the London Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and U2's Bono. Masterson has contributed to several productions by Bill Whelan. In addition to touring the United Kingdom with Whelan's musical extravaganza, +Riverdance, he performed on the soundtrack albums of Whelan's films: #Some Mother's Son in 1996 and #People of the Sea in 1997. Masterson also performed on the soundtracks of #In the Name of the Father in 1993 and #The Secret of Roan Irish in 1994. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
