Stan Haldane
Biography
An undeservedly overlooked figure in the British beat boom of the mid-'60s, Stan Haldane was the bassist in the last incarnation of the John Barry Seven. He was recruited directly into their successor group, the Alan Bown Set, in 1965. In the latter group, he also provided backing vocals and, along with co-founder Jeff Bannister, was one of its longer-serving members. Haldane stuck with the Alan Bown Set through their transition out of R&B and into psychedelia in 1967, and was with them right into their signing to Island Records in the early '70s. Sad to say, he left the music business in the 1980s. ~ Bruce Eder & Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
