A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Block moved to Nashville after graduating high school to pursue a career in music. After enduring a litany of odd jobs to make ends meet, she had a surprise encounter with Taylor Swift -- her longtime idol -- which gave her the morale boost she needed to go all in on her musical dreams. In 2020 she began uploading a steady stream of self-penned songs and choice covers to her social media channel and quickly began accumulating a fervent fan base, who connected with the themes of empowerment, self-love, and acceptance that imbued her original works like "Thick Thighs" and "PMS." Those fans helped Block raise enough money to release a proper single, and the resulting "Just About Over You" became a hit, topping the streaming charts and earning Block a record deal with Block Mercury Nashville/InDent Records. She released her eponymous debut EP the following year, which included the anthemic single "I Bet You Wanna Know." Her full-length debut, Welcome to the Block Party, arrived in February 2022, peaking at number 39 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. Block landed another charting hit later that year with "You, Me, and Whiskey," a collaboration with Justin Moore. The more reflective "Me, Pt. 2" appeared in January of the next year. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
