Best known as the frontman for Stillwater, Oklahoma rockers Other Lives, Jesse Tabish made his solo debut in 2022 with Cowboy Ballads, Pt. 1, which offered up a rawer take on his flagship band's lush and cinematic indie rock sound.

Other Lives emerged in 2006 and features a lineup consisting of Tabish (piano, guitar, lead vocals), Jonathon Mooney (piano, violin, guitar, percussion, trumpet), Josh Onstott (bass, keys, percussion, guitar, backing vocals), Danny Reisch (drums), and Kim Tabish (violin, vocals, guitar, percussion), and a style rooted in atmospheric indie pop, electronic-leaning folk-rock, and Wild West-tinged Americana. The trio courted mainstream success in 2011 with their critically acclaimed sophomore release and continued to fine-tune their widescreen indie rock sound on later efforts Rituals (2015) and For Their Love (2020). Driven into lockdown with the rest of the world during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tabish and his wife Kim began working on a set of songs that took a more intimate approach to the epic scope of Other Lives.
