Biography
Songwriter John Marascalco had a hand in some of the big RB and rock hits of the 1950s and '60s, including songs he co-wrote with Robert Bumps Blackwell for Little Richard like Good Golly Miss Molly and Rip It Up. Another hit written by the duo, Ready Teddy, has been recorded by such rock legends as Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. Marascalco has also co-written songs with Fats Domino (Be My Guest), George Mottola (Goodnight, My Love), and Scott Turner. He and Turner collaborated on songs for Harry Nilsson, such as I Just Ain't Right and Building Me Up, both of which appear on the albums Nilsson '62: The Debut Sessions and Early Tymes. Marascalco and Nilsson also wrote songs together, including Baby Baby and Born in Grenada. Other popular songs penned by him are Goodnight My Love, Heeby Jeebies, Send Me Some Lovin', and She's Got It. Marascalco tunes have been recorded by everybody from Little Richard to Creedence Clearwater Revival to the Stray Cats. ~ Joslyn Layne, Rovi
