Originally formed in Maryland in 1998, Hiretsukan relocated to New York City shortly thereafter. In the fall of 1998, between rehearsing, performing in local venues, and testing new lead singers, the band released a four-song demo cassette. A three-week American tour ensued. Hiretsukan eventually discovered its permanent lead singer and continued performing in and around New York City. In 2001, the band was assisted by Don Fury to record their debut disc effort. Signed to the widely acclaimed G7 Welcoming Committee, Hiretsukan released Invasive//Exotic in May 2002. A five-week North American tour transpired in support of the record. ~ Jason MacNeil, Rovi
