Biography
An American composer who was equally known during his lifetime for his violin virtuosity. His piano playing and organ playing also brought high accolades from the respective spheres of the concert stage and church congregation. Bristow also conducted church choirs and taught in the New York public school system. The best of his compositions were probably his symphonies which demonstrate a definitive progression. The "Niagara Symphony" was scored for orchestra, vocal soloists and choir, arguably his most formidable composition. Having dealt with such diverse aspects of music in his life -- piano, organ, and violin concerts and conducting choirs and orchestras -- it is no wonder that Bristow's "Niagara" is such a complete and diverse expression of music. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
