Biography
Irish soprano Ailish Tynan was educated at Trinity College, the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has given operatic and concert performances, and possesses a wide repertoire that extends from the Baroque era to the modern. She participated in Covent Garden's Vilar Young Artists scheme, and was named a BBC New Generation Artist. She was the winner of the 2003 Rosenblatt Recital Prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. In the field of opera, Tynan has performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the English National Opera, the Scottish Opera, La Scala, the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, the Houston Grand Opera, the Opéra Comique and the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, the Royal Swedish Opera, Opéra de Rouen, and the Grange Park Opera. In concert, she has sung with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Hallé, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Orchestra, among others. She has recorded for Delphian, Signum Classics, Opus Arte, NMC, and Linn Records. ~ Blair Sanderson, Rovi
