Biography
Able to fashion hip-hop beats for the likes of Action Bronson while employing glittery neo-disco on their own releases, the versatile Brooklyn duo Party Supplies came together thanks to a shared love of both pop music's edge (Brian Eno, Frank Zappa) and its '80s (Peter Gabriel, Tina Turner). Producer Justin Nealis had been using the name for R&B remixes and hip-hop cuts he uploaded to the web, but in 2012, when multi-instrumentalist Sean Mahon was brought in to help work on Action Bronson's effort Blue Chips, Party Supplies was officially born. They made their debut in 2012 and broke through when Danny Brown's hit single "Grown Up" landed on the same calendar; then in 2013, they returned for Bronson's Blue Chips 2. Their debut album, Tough Love, landed on the Fool's Gold label later in 2013 and featured the single "Going Back to New York." ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
