Alexander Tidebrink grew up in Ulricehamn, Sweden, and learned to write songs on guitar and piano. He first collaborated with Swedish duo Vigiland in 2015, releasing the single "Addicted," which made the Swedish pop chart and was eventually certified double platinum. Tidebrink additionally released singles as Charlie Who?, and wrote, produced, or was featured on songs by Hardwell, Infernal, LIAMOO, Christopher, and others. 2018 was a pivotal year for Tidebrink, as his collaboration with Alle Farben, "Only Thing We Know," charted in multiple countries, and "Be Your Friend," with Vigiland and Ted Nights, reached the Top Ten in Sweden and was certified quintuple platinum. Further Vigiland collaborations "Nice to Meet You" and "We're the Same" also earned platinum certifications.
Switching to the name A7S, Tidebrink released the Vigiland collaboration "Strangers" in 2019. He then collaborated with Topic, a similar purveyor of melancholic dance-pop, on the single "Breaking Me," which proved to be a breakthrough hit for both artists. Topping radio charts around the world, the song reached platinum or multi-platinum status in 15 countries, and was nominated for Top Dance/Electronic Song at the Billboard Music Awards. A7S and Topic then collaborated with rapper Lil Baby on 2020's "Why Do You Lie to Me," which achieved some chart success but wasn't a blockbuster. The next Topic and A7S collaboration, "Your Love (9PM)," was based on ATB's 1998 trance hit "9 PM (Till I Come)," and credited ATB as a featured artist. Released in early 2021, the track was another global smash, charting in dozens of countries and earning a BRIT Award nomination for International Song of the Year. A7S issued two solo singles, "Nirvana" and "By My Side," later in the year. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
