One of a select few jazzmen who could possibly be confused with a body of water, the drummer Bay Perry is the brother of multi-instrumentalist Ray Perry and baritone saxophonist Joe Perry. The drummer's best-known affiliation was with the cooking organist Jimmy Smith, with whom he worked in a classic organ trio format on '50s recordings such as Jazz Profile.
