Biography
Born in Zimbabwe, singer/songwriter Kelvin Jones moved to the U.K. at the age of nine when his parents migrated to Hertfordshire. It wasn't until 2014 that Jones started to make a name for himself when he uploaded a video of the song "Call Me Home" to YouTube after picking up the guitar five years before and learning to play B.B. King covers. Finding its way onto Reddit, the track was picked up by researchers on ABC's Good Morning America and after being shown had racked up over a million views in just 24 hours. Dropping out of his civil engineering course at university -- much to the disappointment of his parents -- Jones found himself being courted by major labels and eventually signed to Epic at the end of the year. In 2015, he moved to Berlin to start recording his debut album and, backed by a full band, he could fully realize the mix of pop, blues, and soul that he'd been after. At the end of the year, a re-recorded version of his original YouTube hit "Call Me Home" was released and his album, Stop the Moment, appeared just a few months later in early 2016. ~ Rich Wilson, Rovi
