Dawn Golden is a solo outlet for Houses' Dexter Tortoriello -- a way for the musician to indulge in inspirations ranging from doom metal to noise while making downcast, fogged-out songs that involve warped electronics and heavily treated instruments. Tortoriello's first Dawn Golden release, an April 2011 EP titled Blow, was technically credited to Dawn Golden Rosy Cross and issued on Mad Decent/Downtown. Afterward, Tortoriello moved from Chicago to Los Angeles and settled into Diplo's Mad Decent studio.
