Based in Houston, Daniel was a high school athlete who turned his attention to music. He learned production skills online via his future label, Internet Money Records, uploading music and building his audience with a series of viral tracks, including 2015's "Fool." By 2018, he had collected over a million streams for singles such as "Pretend" and "Mirror." The dramatic, trap-indebted "Falling" was his first major hit, racking up over 70 million streams and benefitting, in part, by a booming blackbear remix. The track landed on his 2018 EP, Homesick, which took a steady hike to the Billboard 200, finally placing on the chart over a year later in late 2019. That same year, he issued the Weeknd-esque, '80s synth romp "Trouble" and the Restless EP. Daniel's full-length debut, Nicotine, arrived in March 2020 and included the song "Past Life," co-written by Finneas O'Connell. Later that year, he was featured alongside Imanbek on the Don Diablo track "Kill Me Better." 2021's That Was Then EP saw Daniel joined by Julia Michaels on the streaming hit "Fingers Crossed." He kicked off 2022 with the single "Story." ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi
