Les Incompetents
Biography
Les Incompétents are a short-lived indie rock band from West London whose profile rose after its split in 2006, after which point half of the band carried on as Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man to much hype. A sextet comprised of Billy Leeson (vocals), Fred MacPherson (vocals), Shaun Paterson (guitar), Christopher Burman (guitar), Tommy Howson (bass), and Lawrence of Templeton (drums), Les Incompétents existed from 2004 to 2006, long enough to release two singles, Re-Union/Much Too Much (2005) and How It All Went Wrong (2006), on White Heat Records. A posthumous 15-track compilation of the band's total recorded output, End of an Error (2004-2006), released in 2007, includes those two singles as well as demos and an Xfm radio session with John Kennedy. The breakup of Les Incompétents was announced after Billy Leeson was injured in a tragic assault that left him in critical condition. Though Leeson fortunately recovered over time, the band did not; MacPherson, Paterson, and Howson chose to go their separate way after some final live dates in the fall of 2006, forming the art-rock band Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man immediately thereafter. Signed to Transgressive Records, Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man made its recording debut in 2007 and attracted an immediate following, particularly online. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
