Biography
Swiss violinist Leila Schayegh is a specialist in Baroque repertoire with a focus on performance practice, particularly of the Empfindsamer Stil. She studied violin at the City of Basel Music Academy, where her principal teacher was Raphael Oleg, and she earned her diploma with highest honors. After winning prizes in several competitions, Schayegh played with the Zurich Opera Orchestra. She continued her studies of historical performance practice at the Basel Academy, working with Chiara Banchini. Schayegh has performed with several early music ensembles, including La Risonanza, Ensemble 415, Concerto Köln, La Cetra Basel, Ensemble Muscadin, and La Centifolia. She has taught at the University for Music at Karlsuhe, and she shared the chair of Baroque violin at the Basel Academy with Amandine Beyer.
