Biography
Argentinian dance-pop singer and songwriter María Becerra rose to fame as a social media personality, touring theaters with other popular vloggers in 2017 before launching her music career in earnest. With a warm, conversational vocal quality and emotive delivery, Becerra made her first Argentinian Top 40 appearance with a 2020 remix of her debut single, "High," featuring Tini and Lola Indigo. It went as high as number two before she went all the way to the top of the singles chart with another Tini collaboration, 2021's "Miénteme." Becerra's first album, Animal, saw release just a few months later that year and offered up hits including "Animal" with Cazzu and "Wow Wow" featuring Becky G. She returned in 2022 with her sophomore album, La Nena de Argentina.

Hailing from Quilmes in the province of Buenos Aires, María de los Ángeles Becerra launched her first social media channel at the age of 12. At 15, she went viral with a comedic monologue and entertained new followers with a mix of vlog entries, singing performances, and dance tutorials. A tour of her home country with Original, Laboratorio de Clones, a live theater show featuring Becerra and five other social media personalities, followed in 2017.

Becerra self-released her pop debut single, "High," as well as the three-track EP 222 in 2019. "High" charted in Spain and Argentina, where it peaked at number 59. That led to a deal with 300 Entertainment, which issued a breakout remix of "High" featuring Tini and Lola Indigo. A string of Top Ten hits followed, including "Animal," the title track from her full-length debut, which arrived in August 2021. Meanwhile, Becerra went to number one with "Miénteme," which also featured Tini, and "Qué Más Pues?," a collaboration with J Balvin. While the latter song was included on Balvin's album José, Animal offered up further hit collaborations, including "Cazame" with Tiago PZK and "Wow Wow" with Becky G. In 2022, she paired with Prince Royce for "Te Espero," hitting number 28 on the Hot Latin Songs Chart. That same year, she delivered her sophomore full-length, La Nena de Argentina, which featured production by Nico Cotton, Xross, and Big One. The album spawned several singles, including "Ojalá" and "Automático." ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
