Contemporary R&B singer/songwriter Drea was born Andrea Rachelle Albert in Kansas City. Her career began in 1997, when her a cappella performance won a local talent show; there she met a talent scout who introduced her to producer Kenny "Smoove" Kornegay, who in turn signed her to his Spoiled Rotten Music company.
