Biography
Inspired by the likes of Prokofiev, Ravel, and Debussy, Ludovic Bource is a French composer/arranger famous for his successful musical relationship with critically acclaimed director Michel Hazanavicius. After starting his career scoring various commercials, he moved onto creating soundtracks for the short films En Attendant, Sirene Song, and Spartacus, and producing albums for the likes of French hip-hop trio Svinkels (Bois Mes Paroles), folk-pop chanteuse Little (Rose Bonbon) and Gallic rock vocalist Alain Bashung (L'imprudence), before re-teaming with Hazanavicius (whom he'd also previously collaborated with on 1999's Mes Amis), for the 2006 espionage comedy OSS 117: Le Caire Nid d'Espions and its 2009 follow-up Rio Ne Repond Plus. Following Bource's contribution to the Pierre Barougier/Olivier Bourgeois-directed environmental documentary, #Nous Resterons Sur Terre, the pair achieved their biggest hit with 2011's Palme d'Or nominated The Artist, a black-and-white comedy based on a 1920s film star's relationship with an extra. Recorded with the Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra, its original score played a pivotal role in the narrative of the film, which paid homage to the silent movies of the early 20th century. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
