Biography
One of the East Coast's most innovative techno producers, John Selway's tracks seem to cross all boundaries, appealing to everyone from techno DJs to trance listeners. Before Selway rose to global prominence with the aid of Swedish tech-house producer Christian Smith, he was a trained violin-playing teen from the Washington, D.C., area who took an interest in the East Coast's early rave scene. These early experiences with techno convinced him that he wanted to make electronic dance music, resulting in his first record in 1991 at the tender age of 17. He then attended college in upstate New York but soon felt drawn to Manhattan, where he quickly blossomed into a prolific producer as well as a hot DJ. His collaborations with Deep Dish and BT only helped his reputation as a producer, while his celebrated collaborations with Smith have brought him even closer toward superstar status. Though his music isn't confined to a single genre and is characterized primarily by its tendency to integrate an amalgam of different influences, his knack for the electro sound has awarded him considerable attention. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
