Biography
One of the greatest female songwriters of the golden era of popular song, Carolyn Leigh wrote several uptown standards, including Witchcraft, Young at Heart, The Best Is Yet to Come, Firefly, Hey, Look Me Over!, Pass Me By, and It Amazes Me. Born in 1926, Leigh was writing lyrics for the Broadway musical +Peter Pan by 1954. She also worked on +Wildcat (1960) and +Little Me (1962). Most of her best songs were written with Cy Coleman, though she also wrote with Jule Styne, Harold Arlen, Marvin Hamlisch, and Johnny Richards. She died in 1983. ~ John Bush, Rovi
