Somewhere between a band and a concept, First Serve features two-thirds of the legendary hip-hop crew De La Soul -- Plug 1 (Dave) and Plug 2 (Posdnous) -- along with two French producers, Chokolate and Khalid. The project was born at a chance meeting after a De La Soul gig in Paris. A concept album concerning a fictional, rising hip-hop act was discussed, then Pos and Dave assumed new alter egos -- Deen and Jacob -- while Chokolate and Khalid began working on beats. The Play It Again Sam label released the results, De La Soul's Plug 1 Plug 2 Present...First Serve, in 2012, with "We Made It" landing as the concept album's first single. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
